About Jill


With over 30 years’ experience in assisting initiatives as varied as anti-apartheid causes, environmental projects and the performing arts, Jill Ritchie has raised over R2billion for the NPO/charity sector, both from within South Africa and abroad.

She has written 27 books and edited three, including many guides to fundraising and is a regular contributor to leading South African and international magazines. She combines her writing skills, background in commerce and marketing and extensive experience in the non-profit sector to advise organisations on innovative, creative and proactive methods of expanding the donor base and securing funding.

Jill is the founder and director of Papillon Press and Consultancy www.papillonpress.biz offering publications, training, mentoring and fundraising consulting to non-profit organisations in southern and South Africa as well as advice to corporate donors on their corporate social responsibility (CSI) partnerships. She has offices in Cape Town and London.

Jill was among the first fundraisers in South Africa to join the Southern Africa Institute of Fundraising (SAIF) and served as its Vice President for five years. she has been made a Fellow of SAIF

She holds the London City & Guilds International Diploma in Teaching and Training.

Jill is qualified as a fundraising trainer and was the first in South Africa to be certified by SAQA as an assessor of fundraising training.

Jill is in regular demand as a speaker throughout southern Africa and the UK.

She won the SA Chamber of Commerce, UK Giving Back Award 2015.
